Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School is a comprehensive high school located 15 minutes south of Cleveland and was founded in 1882. We serve over 1350 students in grades 9-12 from the communities of Brecksville, Broadview Heights, and North Royalton. Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School has received numerous state and national accolades including being named a "Blue Ribbon School" by the US Department of Education in 2008.
We work hard to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. Our students have access to a wide range of courses including Advanced Placement classes, a thorough selection of college preparatory courses in the core subject areas, a wide variety of elective opportunities in the arts and world languages, and career technical education programs through the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. We also support our students’ learning by providing intervention and special education services to assist their individual needs and to maximize their potential. Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School offers its students many extra-curricular opportunities including a wide variety of interscholastic athletics, a host of student clubs and activities, along with an elite theater and music program. Steven Ast, Principal
Mr. Ast joined the team at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School as principal in 2017. He is the proud father of three school-aged children and married to his wife N’ecole who is also an education leader. Prior to joining the team at BBHHS in the community where his family resides, he was principal at Chagrin Falls High School for six years where he also served as an Assistant Principal. His first year in school administration was at Normandy High School in Parma as an Administrative Intern. He also taught Social Studies at Mayfield High School and began his career as a long term substitute teacher at Solon High School.
Steven is currently serving on the National Association of Secondary School Principals Board of Directors and the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators Legislative Committee. He is in his second year of participating on the College Board’s National Forum planning committee and assisted with the 2018 Midwest Regional Forum committee. He has been a presenter on topics including SEL Action Planning and Instructional Technology Integration at local and state level conferences, and is currently an Adjunct Professor for the Lebron James Family Foundation College of Education at the University of Akron.
He earned a B.S. in Business Administration at Ashland University and a M.S. in Education at the University of Akron. He also completed coursework at Cleveland State University to earn both his principal and superintendent licenses.
