Superintendent's Message

BBHCSD Superintendent Jeffrey Harrison headshot
Dear Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Community,

With great excitement, motivation, and enthusiasm for a fresh start to the 2023-2024 School Year, I write to the community to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I’ve received from many in our school family on the beginning of my tenure as Superintendent. During these first few weeks, the care and compassion among our district stakeholders is evident. In meetings already with parents, staff, and our elected leadership, what becomes clear is the desire to keep the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools on a successful, innovative, and dynamic path poised for even greater, future achievement.

As a newcomer to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools, sharing a bit about my background in educational leadership is important for the community. The 2023-2024 school year marks my 24th year in education, having most recently served as Superintendent, and prior to that, as a High School Principal, Athletic Director, Executive Director of a district sponsored Community School, and Curriculum Specialist. I proudly began my career in education as a classroom teacher, instructing American History and AP Economics. I have two sons, Ty and Ryan, and am happily married to my wife, Pamela.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools has an established reputation for excellence, with remarkable achievements, and in the near and long-term, building strong relationships to obtain the knowledge needed to move our district forward is of the utmost importance. Expect to see me around the buildings and communities. By the end of the school year, embarking on a new strategic planning process to help us identify, and vigorously pursue our ‘North Star,’ will help us to re-establish our highest priorities and guide the allocation of resources to best meet the needs of our students.

In beginning this new chapter with our school family, a vision of inclusivity and equity will become clear. Every student, regardless of background, will have equal access to a high-quality education which nurtures individual talent and prepares them for their own bright future. A culture of collaboration and open communication will prompt my door to always be open for you to share thoughts, ideas, and concerns freely. I fully expect to work as a united team, where every voice is heard and valued, and where decisions are made collectively for the benefit of our students and school family. When challenges arise, working together collaboratively will help us to jointly overcome any obstacle.

In closing, I look forward to our working relationship, to successfully and enthusiastically beginning together anew, and helping the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools to new levels of excellence in academic, co-curricular, and student leadership pursuits.

GO BEES!

Sincerely,

Jeffrey D. Harrison
