Dear Highland Drive Families,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful school community and look forward to my second year as the Highland Drive principal. I began my teaching career in the Brecksville – Broadview Heights City School District in 2000, spending fourteen years in the fourth-grade classroom. I then moved to a new role leading professional development throughout the District as the mathematics instructional coach. After earning my administrative license from Baldwin-Wallace University, I returned to Central School to serve as assistant principal for the 2017-18 school year and principal during the 2018-2019 school year. My wonderful family includes my husband, John, and our two boys, John and Colton.
At Highland Drive Elementary School, our focus is on supporting the academic, social and emotional growth of every child and to foster a love of learning. We seek to accomplish this goal through various initiatives, by promoting creativity and innovation in the classroom, and ensuring a caring, safe environment for all students. Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents, students, staff and community partners is an important part of helping our students succeed. By working together, we will provide our students the best possible opportunities and help prepare them to be lifelong learners. Regular communication through our building website, email updates and Twitter, @Highland_BBH, will keep families updated on important news and highlights of student learning.
I am honored to have been selected to serve this community and will work hard to gain your trust and respect as Highland Drive’s principal. My door is always open, and I welcome the input of our families. I am looking forward to making this another successful school year.
Mrs. Colleen Tot
