Congratulations to BBHHS sophomore Donnie Karpowicz who was recently awarded the NSLI-Y (National Security Language Initiative for Youth) scholarship, through the U.S. Department of State. Donnie will join a select group of students with the opportunity to study Mandarin Chinese in New Taipei City, Taiwan, for six weeks this summer. Over 3,000 students across the country applied for this highly competitive and prestigious national-level scholarship, with only sixty students being accepted to study in Taiwan. During his time of study in Taiwan, Donnie will receive intensive language instruction, live with a host family, and participate in numerous cultural activities. This unique immersive cultural learning experience will open numerous opportunities to study language and international relations in the future.
