Sign Dedication Ceremony Commemorates Brecksville Chicks, Support for BBHCSD, Schools Foundation

A break in the November weather prompted the opportunity to reveal the recently renamed thoroughfare sign near the athletic stadium between the High School and Middle School in honor of a handful of supportive mothers in the district who affectionately refer to themselves as the ‘Brecksville Chicks.’ As part of the yearly fundraiser which supports the Brecksville Broadview Heights Schools Foundation, the annual renaming of one of the several campus street signs has become a friendly and competitive contest for the highest bidder who wishes to rename the sign in some recognition fashion. For the most recent sign unveiling, the Brecksville Chicks were the official honorees, serving as this past year’s highest bidder. The Brecksville Chicks unofficially formed when their respective daughters, today sophomores at the High School, were in kindergarten. Over the years, these ladies’ bond with the district grew as members of the Highland Elementary family, serving and volunteering in various capacities in the PSO. They support the BBHCSD unconditionally, and this sign renaming represents their 4th sign in total. They refer to their support collectively as, love for the district. On behalf of everyone in the BBHCSD, thank you to the Brecksville Chicks for their support of the Schools Foundation, which helps to benefit students and staff. They are: Suzanne Brown, Amy Ference, Denise Beach, Jill Lahrmer, Jill Mansfield, Madalynn Wendland, Shelley Roth, Janet Popielski, Ruth Schneider, Pam Daiker-Middaugh, and Ann Koepke.
