Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School and Middle School are celebrating Start with Hello Week which seeks to promote the importance of kindness and a welcoming school community from Monday, September 18th through Friday, September 22nd. Coinciding with Homecoming Week themes, Start with Hello Week features daily fun activities organized by student organizations, including HUDDLE, Student Government, Key Club, and SADD at the High School, and HUDDLE Jr., at the Middle School.
On Monday, September 18th, BBHHS students were welcomed upon arrival with energetic music from a DJ and the Bees Marching Band Drumline. As part of the day’s theme of “Adam Sandler Make Someone Laugh Day” students were encouraged to brighten someone’s day by making them laugh or meet a new classmate. On Tuesday, September 19th, HUDDLE sponsored activities included a “Positive Post-It” Station and a “Start with Hello” Compliment Card Station to help provide practical ways to create a positive school environment. Additional activities will include an Instagram Scavenger Hunt on Wednesday, SADD activities in the gym on Thursday, before wrapping up with Neon Class Color Day on Friday, September 22nd.
At BBHMS, Start with Hello Week kicked off with “Barbie World” on Monday, during which students were encouraged to wear their favorite shade of pink, sprinkle kindness like confetti, and take a photo in a life-size Barbie doll package! Lunchtime also featured fun prize giveaways! For “Trusted Adult” Tuesday, students and staff could dress like or “twin” with their trusted adult in the building and complete a similar themed Treasure Hunt in the Counseling Office. Wednesday is Neon Day with staff and each grade level wearing their assigned color clothing to “brighten someone’s” day. Start with Hello Week will wrap up at BBHMS with students and staff encouraged to “Dream of a Kinder World” while wearing their favorite PJ’s on Thursday, and “BEE-ing the best friend they can BEE” while dressing their best for Picture Day on Friday.
A special thank you to all participating student organizations, as well as students and staff for their support of Start with Hello Week and demonstrating the importance of showing kindness.
