Congratulations to Steve Cocchiola, who was named the Ohio Music Education Association Educator of the Year before the Holiday Band Concert on Thursday evening, December 15th! Mr. Brad Stevens, OMEA President-Elect, was present at the concert to announce the selection of Mr. Cocchiola as this year's OMEA Educator of the Year Award recipient. Mr. Stevens shared that Mr. Cocchiola was nominated by a professional colleague from the OMEA membership based on his creativity, understanding of music education philosophies, and demonstration of professional collegiality. Steve demonstrated that same creativity at a performance recently, as he led his first Holiday Band Concert. The unique rendition of Sleigh Ride was extremely engaging with all of those who were involved. Congratulations to Steve who will be recognized at the state event for OMEA in February 2023. This is truly a well-deserved award, and thank you for being a fine representation of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools on this prominent statewide level.
