Joe Labas, and Alumnus Mike Rose, Named Finalists for Greater Cleveland Sports Commission Male Athletes of the Year

Joe Labas, a standout performer on the football team at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, and Bees alumnus, Mike Rose, who plays football at Iowa State University, have been named a finalist in their respective categories for the 21st annual Greater Cleveland Sports Awards ceremony. Both selected as one of three finalists among all male athletes from Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark and Summit county, this constitutes a highly impressive accomplishment on its own merit, and worthy of the community’s recognition and praise. Joe Labas is a finalist for the Male High School Athlete of the Year, and Mike Rose is a finalist for Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year. As finalists, Joe and Mike’s accomplishments will be judged among two other student-athletes for the coveted title of Male Athlete of the Year, which will be live broadcasted on Thursday, Mar. 4, 2021 at 7 p.m. on WKYC TV 3, wkyc.com and SportsTime Ohio. Sports Awards is the premier annual sports fundraiser supporting Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. With consideration to current events, this year’s show will not only feature the traditional celebration of athletic achievements, but also themes of humanity, courage and community focus throughout the show.  The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools congratulates Joe Labas and alumnus Mike Rose as both being named finalists in this year’s Male High School Athlete of the Year, and Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award, respectively, and encourages the community to watch next Thursday at 7 p.m. on WKYC TV 3.
