Students in K-4 to Stay Hybrid Until 2021
Dear Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Community,

The continued increase in case numbers in and around Cuyahoga County will prompt the BBHCSD to “press-pause” on the return to 5-Day/ Week, In-Person learning for Elementary students in grades Kindergarten through 4th until at least the end of the calendar year. This decision is being made as a result of the District’s continued close monitoring and evaluation of the data and positive cases throughout our school family, on an ongoing basis. Consequently, elementary students in grades K-4 will remain in the Hybrid Model of Learning, or in their Online Learning Model next week, until the end of the calendar year.

Equally important, students at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School will pivot to the District’s ALL Remote Learning Model effective tomorrow, Friday, November 13th due to our determination that what the Cuyahoga County Board of Health defines as an ‘outbreak’ may be taking place at the building. The CCBOH defines an outbreak as a minimum of two respective diagnosed cases linked to individuals being together at the location. Once again, the High School will enter this ALL Remote Learning Model effective tomorrow, November 13th until at least Monday, November 30th so that the facility can be deeply cleaned, and so that District leaders can continue to closely monitor the situation. This also includes high school extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. These high school activities are on pause until November 30th as well.

As always, these decisions noted above are being made out of an abundance of caution, and so that we can keep students and staff safe while providing a constructive learning environment. The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools reports all cases to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, takes their guidance and recommendations, and is now posting updates every-other-day on its COVID-19 Reporting page under the Resources tab. A great deal of information is available online and the District encourages you to regularly visit our site for more information.

Flexibility and patience have been and will continue to be, important virtues in this ever-changing environment. The BBHCSD thanks you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Joelle Magyar
Superintendent of Schools
