Hilton First Graders Celebrate Sixties Day
Hilton first grade students and staff celebrate Sixties Day

As a fun way to mark the halfway point of students reaching their learning goal of counting to 120, as well as to celebrate the 60th day of school, the 1st grade classrooms at Hilton Elementary School incorporated a variety of 1960’s inspired themes and activities on Monday, November 20, 2017.  Teachers and students alike dressed up in ‘groovy’ 60’s fashion, including tie dyed shirts, headbands and tinted sunglasses.  The 1960’s theme was incorporated into the various content areas as well, as students learned about the history and culture of the decade, listened to hit songs by artists from the 60’s, and completed a writing activity that required them to list ways they could show ‘peace and love’ to others.  To conclude their 60’s themed celebration, each classroom enjoyed delicious root beer floats together.  Overall, Sixties Day provided 1st grade students and staff at Hilton Elementary a ‘far out’ time of learning and fun!
