Varsity Football Team Learning More Than Football During First Full Week of Practice

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School Football Team officially began full practice this week, as did other fall sports and activities in the district, but student athletes were learning even more than the x’s and o’s of the game. According to Coach Jason Simonetti, players were being taught the value of giving back to the community as members of the Varsity Football team were helping to spread mulch in various landscape beds throughout the entire district to help beautify the campus in advance of the start of the 2017-2018 School Year. The effort saved the full cost of having mulch installed by the building and facilities teams, freeing them up to make other preparations for the school year, while helping the team fundraise to offset player participation and meal expenses. In all, nearly fifty members of the varsity football team used shovels, rakes and wheel-barrows to spread mulch piles at nearly every building in the school district. Way to go, football team, and congratulations on creatively assisting your team… and the district!
