Students at Chippewa Elementary recently participated in “Pumpkin-Mania”, a set of creative, hands-on learning activities featuring the pumpkin during art class on Thursday, October 4th and Friday, October 5th. Throughout the fall-themed activity, students completed five different stations incorporating a specific content area and facilitated by a parent-volunteer. Examples included creating a pumpkin-themed poem using a rhyming couplet, estimating the height and weight of a pumpkin, predicting the number of seeds contained inside, as well as performing a water displacement experiment to determine if the pumpkin will sink or float in a pool of water. Overall, students had a blast participating in what has become a highly anticipated, annual learning activity at Chippewa. Thank-you to all parent-volunteers for helping to make “Pumpkin-Mania” a memorable learning experience for Chippewa students.
