BBHHS Physics teacher Mary Ellen Mauser has for the past three years organized a Cardboard Boat Regatta as an end of the year activity for all BBHHS physics students.
This year 240 students in 90 vessels competed in 24 first round races at the Brecksville Community Center Pool on May 21. Four teams at a time placed their custom made boats of various sizes and shapes into the water amid the cheers of several hundred onlookers and raced across the pool. The winner of each round moved on to compete again.
After
surviving several single elimination rounds, this year’s winning team members
were Ethan Horvath, Mason Leuthaeuser, Brad Nerkowski and Adam Rybak.
Thank you to the City of Brecksville for allowing the students to use the pool and helping with the logistics of planning, carrying out and cleaning up this event.
