BBH Elementary Hosts First Unified Sports Showcase

BBHHS Unified Sports student works on an activity with BBHES student

BBH Elementary School played host to a very special event that blended members of the Unified Sports team from BBHHS and elementary students in the very first ever Unified Sports Showcase. The program provided a meaningful opportunity for Unified Sports program participants to engage with special needs students at the Elementary School in fun activities, laughter, collaboration, and more!

Unified Sports Showcase activity in Fieldhouse

The depth and capacity of the Elementary School Field House was the perfect spot for eight activity stations to unfold, including Rock Hop in the Obstacle Course, Scarf Games, Rolling and Trapping, Parachute Circle Ball, Bounce and Catch with Shoot to Score, Big Ball Catch, and Side Step. All stations incorporated specific skill areas such as foundation skills, balance and jumping, walking and running, and trapping and catching. Social and emotional learning skills were also featured within each activity, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.

Parents of participating students had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast in the cafeteria with their child and watch as they completed each station with their assigned adult or high school student helper. Congratulations to the Unified Sports participants for their leadership and confidence in meaningfully working with our elementary students. Way to go, all involved!
