Seventh grade students in BBH Middle School’s STEM class are developing a wide array of skills in an engaging, hands-on setting using VEX IQ remote-controlled robots. During the twelve-week class, students collaborate and use their problem-solving skills to construct their robots using plastic pieces that are easy to snap together. Once completed, students learn how to create code to have their robots complete certain actions. One of the students’ favorite activities is a weekly competition where students use the remote-control function to direct their robot to pick up a foam ball and place it inside of an open sided cube. Throughout the class, students are tasked with troubleshooting any issues with their robots, which includes following a step-by-step process to identify the issue and contacting VEX tech support when necessary. Congratulations to our BBHMS students for demonstrating excellent critical thinking, communication, and other real-world skills!
