Red Ribbon Week Throughout BBHCSD Promotes Safe and Smart Choices

rrwek

Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools participated in Red Ribbon Week from Monday, October 27th through Friday, October 31st in an effort to constructively help keep students free from alcohol, tobacco, and drug use. At all grade levels, students and staff promoted safe and smart choices with fun and themed days of the week, that included responsible activities. The Middle School woke up drug-free on Monday when students wore pajamas, proclaimed I’m too cool for drugs on Tuesday with beachwear, and said ‘boo’ to risky choices on Friday for Halloween by wearing costumes, among other fun-filled prompts. At the Elementary School, a weeklong themed-day calendar took place as well, with special highlights including on Tuesday, when students proclaimed their future to be bright, with bright-colored clothing, wearing orange on Wednesday to show unity and kindness, and scaring away bad choices, with costumes on Halloween. The High School promoted Red Ribbon Week with its own calendar of fun-filled themes, which among them encouraged students Don’t Get Twisted on Drugs day, where teachers dressed like students and students dressed like teachers, and Team Up Against Drugs day with a dress up like Twins Day. While students and staff had fun, the message remains important, that Red Ribbon Week is the annual alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention campaign in late October each year, which helps to promote smart and safe choices for all.
