Brecksville-Broadview Heights Primary School recently kicked off its annual One School, One Book program on Monday, April 13, 2026, which will bring the entire school community together for a shared reading experience with The Mouse and the Motorcycle by beloved children’s author Beverly Cleary. Through the generous support of the BBHES PSO, each student received a free copy of the book to enjoy at home along with a bookmark featuring a daily reading schedule. Over the next three weeks, students and families are encouraged to read together daily, either out loud or by scanning a QR code to listen to the chapters read by a BBH Primary School teacher. In addition to bringing the school community together to talk about the same story, the daily read-aloud helps students to strengthen their understanding and learn new vocabulary words while providing opportunities for families to spend time together. With one week complete, students have been observed talking about the adventures of Ralph, the main character from the story, while making connections both at school and at home. Families have also been encouraged to submit pictures of their child reading, listening, or participating in fun activities inspired by the story. Thank you to our BBHES staff, PSO members, and families for their support for this special celebration of literacy!
