Coding Clubs Launch at Highland Elementary School
Aligned with the District’s efforts to continue an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) curriculum, a coding club has been launched at Highland Elementary School for students with interest in the subject. Helping to lead the effort for a “girls only” coding club are Morgan Kolis and Corinne Chilcott while Caleb Bihari has started a coding club for anyone to join. The purpose of these new coding clubs is to give an introduction of coding skills to students in the building, and expose them to more opportunities with computer science. On a larger level, the coding club is also designed to help stimulate an interest in, and maintain a passion for mathematics, technology and other science topics. Congratulations to the participants and the advisors at Highland Elementary School who are working to breakdown the digital divide and promote technology and coding skills among our District’s youngest students.
