To help celebrate the arrival of the autumn season, the first-grade team at Hilton Elementary School incorporated a special project called ‘Pumpkin Pals’ into its annual Book Bistro learning activity on Thursday, October 18, 2018. With the help of parents and family members, students applied their creativity to decorate a small pumpkin and transform it into one of their favorite book characters! On the day of the event, students brought their pumpkin creation to the Book Bistro, where it was displayed along with their favorite book on the table outside the first-grade classrooms. During the classroom portion of the program, students shared their favorite parts of their “Pumpkin Pal’ book to parents and family members in attendance. Donuts and other refreshments were provided for everyone to enjoy by the first-grade team. The fun, fall-themed event also provided students an opportunity to view all the amazing ‘Pumpkin Pal’ creations on display with their parent or family member. Thank-you to all parents, family members and caregivers for attending this year’s Book Bistro and supporting our wonderful students!
