BBHCSD Mourns the Loss of Ron Ganim, Iconic Coach, Educator and Leader in the World of Gymnastics
The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District is mourning the loss of Ron Ganim, the beloved teacher and leader of the gymnastics program for many years in the school district. Coach Ganim led the BBHHS’s Varsity Gymnastics team to 17 overall state championships, including 14 consecutive titles, which is a record in the State of Ohio. “Mr. G.,” as he was affectionately known by his students and gymnasts, spent his career in the classroom as a physical education teacher in the district. Together with his wife Joan, the current head coach of the Varsity Gymnastics team, they founded Gymnastics World, a world-renowned gymnastics organization also located in the community. Ron Ganim had a profound influence on the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District and everyone he touched through his teaching and coaching. He is a member of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School Gallery of Achievement, was honored as the 2007 National Gymnastics Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations and is the recipient of the OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award by the Ohio High School Gymnastics Coaches Association in 2010. Ron Ganim will be greatly missed by the district, and the collective thoughts and condolences go out to his entire family right now. There will be a viewing on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 all at Saint Basil the Great Church, 8700 Brecksville Road. The family is accepting donations to the Ganim Family Memorial Fund, and proceeds will be used to benefit children.
