Science Discovery Zone Day Helps Hilton Elementary Students Explore Laws of Force and Motion
Science Discovery Zone Day Experiment

Hilton Elementary School students explored the scientific laws of force and motion through a variety of hands-on experiments during Science Discovery Zone Day on Friday, September 29, 2017. The experiments were held on tables located in the Art Hall and Media Hall of the building and were overseen by parent-volunteers, including Theresa Emch, who helped to organize volunteers and materials. Classrooms were assigned to a specific 35-minute time-slot during the school day to participate in the fun experiments, which utilized household materials to demonstrate the scientific laws of force and motion. Each parent-volunteer explained and modeled how to perform the experiment, and then provided students the opportunity to conduct the experiment and learn through discovery on their own. Follow-up discussion questions helped students to identify how the laws of force and motion, as well as gravity and inertia, interacted during the experiment. Overall, the students had a blast learning and watching scientific knowledge come to life. A big thank-you to all parent-volunteers for helping to make Hilton’s Science Discovery Zone Day a success!
