Students in the BBHCSD Participate in Once-In-A-Generation Eclipse Experience

Students throughout the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District participated in the once-in-a-generation experience of viewing the eclipse of the sun on August 21, 2017. Through the use of glasses that meet national safety standards, and NASA Certification, students of all buildings were treated to this experience where the moon crosses the sun’s path, an event which has not happened since 1979. Viewers from Northeast Ohio were not perfectly aligned in the path of totality of the eclipse, but that did not stop students from cheering with excitement upon reacting to the first signs of this solar phenomenon.  Students and teachers temporarily paused classes for approximately 20 minutes in the afternoon of Monday, August 21, exited the buildings into nearby open areas, and participated in this valuable outside-the-classroom learning experience.
