Aaron Rex

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools formally announces the hiring of Aaron Rex as the incoming Band Director at the High School, to replace Jason Wyse, who announced his resignation earlier this spring to pursue new endeavors at the collegiate level. Mr. Rex joins the District most recently from the Jackson City Schools in southern Ohio, where he has served as Director of Bands since 2012. His near-decade in total high school band directing experience is combined with an extensive knowledge of various elements of marching band drill styles and his skill in assembling musical arrangements and integrating musical technology.

Mr. Rex is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Music Education from Bowling Green State University and holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Kent State University. His Wind Ensemble has earned Superior ratings at OMEA’s Large Group Adjudicated Events all years under his direction, most recently earning unanimous Superior ratings in Class A for the past three years. Mr. Rex has also been named a finalist and various instructor competitions, even being named a semi-finalist for the prestigious Grammy Music Educator Award, making him the first band director in the State of Ohio to do so. His passion, enthusiasm and background will serve as a perfect fit with the highly acclaimed Brecksville Broadview Heights High School Marching Band. On behalf of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools, please join the District in welcoming our new Band Director, Mr. Aaron Rex.
