The BBHCSD would like to thank the nearly 70 individuals who attended an informative “Meet the Architects” night at the High School Media Center earlier in the week. Led by representatives from ThenDesign Architects, Chris Smith, Ryan Schmit and Mia Katz, the presentation included a power point that explained their comprehensive experience in contemporary school design and construction over the years. Topics for discussion also included site location particulars, wetland mitigation procedures and previewed the forthcoming, extensive community engagement and visioning process. A question-and-answer period followed the 30-minute presentation, where citizens from the audience inquired about topics ranging from energy efficiency in the new elementary facility, school safety and security and 21st Century collaborative learning spaces. Presenters made clear the importance of understanding the current culture of academic settings, a process which will soon begin through classroom observations by the architectural team, and then to design the new facility based on that culture. After the meeting, an important investors information session was conducted with members of the bond underwriting team. In all, this evening represented an important next step in the process to forecasting how the next stages of the design and construction process will unfold. Stay tuned for more information regarding the elementary school construction project.
