Welcome from New Superintendent Joelle Magyar

Superintendent Joelle Magyar and Family

Hello BBHCSD Family!

It is my honor and pleasure to introduce myself to you as your new Superintendent. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve you and our community. As I look forward to getting to know you, I would like to tell you a little about myself.

I am the proud mother of two amazing boys; Nicholas (20) and Andrew (17). Nick is currently playing hockey in the Ontario Hockey League in Kitchener, Ontario, and attends school part-time. Drew is a senior taking College Credit Plus courses at Columbus State as he is looking to follow in his brother's footsteps to pursue his passion of hockey as well. Also, I am engaged to my best friend, Brent. As a family, we enjoy cooking together, zip lining and spending time around the fire pit. We have 2 dogs, Brutus and Irie, and we currently reside in Mentor, but in a few weeks are relocating closer to the district.

I knew since I was a senior in high school that I had a passion for kids. I was fortunate to be recommended for a senior class called "Tutor Friends." In this class we spent time in our district's elementary schools working with children in kindergarten through fifth grade. It was this class that solidified my love for education and the desire to make it my life-long profession.

I graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a degree in Elementary Education. My first teaching experience was at a small private school in Cleveland Heights. I later accepted a position with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District while taking additional college coursework to earn my master's degree and principal licensure. I was an assistant principal in Twinsburg, a principal in Painesville City Local Schools, where I later served as the Director of Student Services. I then served as Assistant Superintendent in Brunswick for three years before Mayfield Schools recruited me to be their Assistant Superintendent. Then last spring, your Board of Education offered me this position.

Under my leadership you can expect to see a love of children and decision making that supports that love. You will witness my strong work ethic, dedication to our school family and an openness and willingness to listen. You can expect me to build strong working relationships with staff, students and community, as you will see me out in the community and visible at school events and functions. My communications with you will be transparent, clear and frequent. I encourage you to follow me on Twitter @SuperBeeBBH where I will post updates and photos frequently throughout the year.

I am anxious to start the school year as I cannot wait to see all the wonderful things we do for our kids. I look forward to meeting you and working together to make sure our children have the skills and experiences necessary to be successful in the future. As individuals, we can do great things, but together, we can be amazing. I look forward to the amazing!

Let's have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Joelle Magyar
