1st Grade Students Demonstrate Learning at Hilton Elementary Book Bistro

1st grade students at Hilton Elementary School demonstrated classroom learning by retelling and explaining the sequence of events in their favorite book to parents and caregivers during the Book Bistro event on Thursday, October 12th. Students have been diligently learning and practicing the skill of retelling and sequencing stories in English Language Arts since the start of the school year. The event was a fun way for students to practice the skills learned in the classroom with a book they enjoy reading at home. During Book Bistro, students were organized into groups of four and given the opportunity to retell their favorite book’s story to their peers, as well as parents and caregivers in attendance. Students also shared their completed sequencing paper which featured illustrations they created themselves! At the end of the activity, students, parents and caregivers had the opportunity to enjoy donuts and other delicious refreshments provided by the 1st Grade teachers.
