BBHHS Hosts U.S. Naturalization Ceremony
Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School hosted a very special ceremony on Friday, November 22, 2019, as approximately 46 individuals became official citizens of the United States, signifying the completion of the formal naturalization process. Superintendent Joelle Magyar welcomed dignitaries, our very own students and the new citizens with opening remarks before a capacity audience in the High School gymnasium. High School Advanced Placement Government teacher Sean Brennan has taken the lead on this important milestone ceremony to help students see firsthand the path that leads immigrants to citizenship, even playing a role in the proceedings to earn a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dignitaries included United States Court Judge Christopher Boyko, who played a key role in the ceremony, a representative from U.S. Congresswomen Marcia Fudge’s Office, State Senator Matt Dolan, State Representative Phil Robinson, County Councilman Jack Schron, Mayors Hruby and Alai, Councilwoman Kim Veras and esteemed Board Members Mike Ziegler and Fred Pedersen. Thank you to Mr. Brennan and his work to make Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School the home to a ceremony of such great significance, and the opportunity for our students to see our government at work.
