Makerspace activities come to the Chippewa Media Center
Recently we launched a "Makerspace" type atmosphere in the Chippewa Media Center. After students have checked out their books for the week, they may choose from a number of ongoing activities in the media center. These activities incorporate the values of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Click here
to see some of the activities in action!
Chippewa’s Media Center
offers over 10,000 books and magazines to our students and staff. Our excellent collection circulates weekly, allowing each child to regularly have new items of interest to share at school and home.
Our children learn to become life-long learners and enthusiastic consumers of print and nonprint materials. They learn how to safely use the internet and electronic resources.
Our online collection catalog is available from all computers in the school and at home. This total access allows a parent to guide material selection. Accelerated Reader books are clearly marked in the Media Center collection. The title list for AR books is available on the AR link here. Our catalog allows us access to all of the other district media centers, as well as libraries all over northeastern Ohio.
Each week children are scheduled in the Media Center. We are open from 9:00 until 4:00 during the school day. Materials are borrowed for one week. They can be renewed.
We invite Chippewa students to join our Birthday Book Club. A ten dollar donation sponsors a new book for the collection. Each child’s name is featured on a nameplate in the front of the book. The child then becomes the first person to take home the book before it becomes part of the Chippewa collection.
