We hope you will join us for the first PSO meeting of the year. Our guest speaker will be Scot Prebles, our new Superintendent. PSO meetings are a great way to stay informed, voice your concerns and meet other parents. Our meetings are held in the back auditorium and start at 9:30 a.m. Due to space limitations baby sitting is not provided at the Middle School. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email me.

Please be aware that traffic is not able to get to the high school from the middle school entrance off of Mill Road between 2:45p.m. and 3:15p.m. The buses are lined up at that time to pick up middle school students, and traffic will be stopped. Please use the Board Office entrance for access to the high school during this time.
This year the 8th grade math department is attempting a paperless textbook approach to instruction. Your student will not be assigned a text in book form. Instead, the book can be accessed either on line, or from a CD that can be downloaded to your computer. Please download the CD that was signed out to your student today in class. Instructions are attached. Students have the option of accessing the on-line version of their textbook with their user name and password or use the downloaded version. We have also provided on-line access to last year’s textbook, in case the student wants to review any material from the previous course. Advantages of the on-line version and disk when connected to the internet are the extra features, such as worksheets, interactive quizzes, extra practice problems, video tutorials, activities, multilingual glossary, and test prep problems. There will be a classroom set of books in the room to use during class, and students may sign one out from any 8th grade math teacher to use in study hall or learning lab.
There may be times during the course of the year that students will not be able to complete their homework, and they will have plenty of excuses why it wasn’t done. However, not having access to a computer is not an acceptable reason. If your student gives this excuse, they will be forgiven that one time but will immediately be assigned a book for future use.
The CD must be returned by Friday, August 27th. The cost of replacing the CD is the same as the cost of a book. If your student does not have access to a computer, a book will be assigned to him/her upon request.
