NEW INFORMATION 9/1/10.  To keep traffic moving in the AM, it would best for students to enter the grounds at the light and parents to enter at the EducationCenter drive.  When dropping off or picking up students in the morning and afternoon, please stop along the right curb along the front of the high school so that through traffic may continue in the left lane.  High school students are not permitted to ride busses and should not be waiting outside of the middle school while the middle school is in session.  All  students should be picked up in the junior, senior lot or in front of the high school.

Parents please assist us with the morning route by entering campus by the tennis courts and staying in the left lane all the way up the hill. The right lane coming up the hill is for students parking in the honors or senior lot.    At dismissal at 2:20, cars that will need to turn left from Mill to Brecksville Road should turn left onto Hilton or Whitewood.  This will help keep traffic flowing.  Students have been told that once they park, they must remain parked for the entire day-no movement of vehicles until the end of the activity.  The traffic pattern for 2010-11 will be modified due to no bussing for high school students.  A committee including parents, administrators, and safety forces have met to discuss the traffic pattern and are planning to institute the following plan.  Please note that the drive 'up the hill' in the morning will be one way traffic with 2 lanes from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Also, please note that all traffic will be leaving campus in the morning via the education center driveway which will be a one-way exit from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Middle school staff will be parking in the front  of the middle school lot which will increase the number of available spaces.  A gate will be used to channel traffic to the education center drive in the morning due to the increased junior lot traffic. Please click here to the see the traffic pattern diagram.

Parking permit applications are being accepted for the 2010-11 school year.  Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for juniors and seniors.  Please note that the traffic pattern will be modified to accomdate more traffic on campus next year since there will be no bussing for high school students.  Each parking permit application contains information regarding the traffic pattern that students must follow.  Click here for the senior parking permit application and directions.  Click here for the junior/sophomore parking permit application and directions.  A limited number of sophomores may be allowed to drive to school if space permits.  Applications for sophomores will not be processed until the end of August but will be accepted now if the student has his/her license.  Students may request the honors lot if they are an officer in a club/activity or a captain of an athletic team.  Please indicate on the application the office held for 2010-11.  Students and parents may drop off completed applications to the high school office throughout the summer or mail the information.  Please make sure your application is complete when you turn it in.  Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Photographers will be here on Thursday, Sept. 2 to photograph students for the yearbook and school pictures.  You can access the order forms online at www.mpsfoto.com and use the password "bbhhs" for details and pricing.  All staff and freshmen, sophomores and juniors should have pictures taken during study halls, planning periods or lunch time.  Forms were sent home the first day of school with students.

Senior portraits for the yearbook are free and should be scheduled before December 22, 2010 with Woodard Photography at  www.woodardphoto.com  Only seniors new to the high school should have pictures taken on Wednesday in order to have a student ID made.

The “S/U” option is the opportunity given to a junior or senior to select one (1) unit of credit or less in non-required subjects for credit each year in which the grade will be either “Satisfactory” or Unsatisfactory”. In addition, any student in grades 10-12 may take an additional S/U option for a music course, excluding music theory and music appreciation. “Satisfactory” (S) will require a “C” or higher for credit; this translates into an average of at least 73%. An average below 73% will result in an “Unsatisfactory” (U). This option is not available for honors or advanced placement courses.

“Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory” credit will be included in the total credits being taken by the student, but will not be figured into the grade point average or the class rank. Therefore, the “S/U” option does not figure into the GPA to determine a student’s eligibility; however, it will count toward the 5-credit course requirement that also determines eligibility.

The student’s declaration for “S/U” must be made prior to the end of September for the first semester or year-long courses and the applications must be approved by the student’s counselor and Assistant Principal. During the second semester, students have the first ten school days to select this option. Applications may be downloaded here.
