Through Professional Learning Communities our teachers are working to help all students gain the skills and knowledge they need to meet and exceed educational standards and to achieve their full potential. In PLCs across grade levels and content areas, our teachers and administrators are engaging in a carefully designed culture of collaborative problem solving and instructional planning about what is working with students and what is not. We ask our teachers to share student performance data so they can transform information gained into knowledge; knowledge about how to better design instructional strategies. PLC time allows time for staff to get together to discuss, "What do students know? What do students not know? and What are we going to do about it?" These questions become focus for how to improve. If BBHCSD teachers are going to achieve increased long-term impact on student performance and achievement, they must be given opportunity to change the way they work. We are working to build the capacity of teacher teams by providing dedicated time for them to reflect on their work and to make ongoing instructional adjustments based on their analysis of student performance. PLCs are helping our teachers and administrators utilize data to gain knowledge necessary to inspire every student to fullfill their academic, ethical and civic potential. Summer Message from Mrs. O’Mara

We are reaching the end of this school year and I wanted to take a minute and send along my wishes that you and your families have the most wonderful summer. Fill your time with all those activities you have been waiting all year to do.
The summer time is always fun for our students, but research shows that a great deal of information is lost during those days that the kiddos are out of school. With the advent of all the programs available on-line, I am hoping to encourage all of you to access the many sites that are available right from our portal page. Your kids can practice their reading, their writing, their math facts-just about anything they are interested in. Set aside some time during every day to keep their knowledge -base fresh.
Mr. Wasil, our media lab coordinator, has also posted a large list of books that are leveled for you so your child can choose a book that they are certain they will be able to read.

The children’s department representative from our public library came to discuss the programming that will be available to everyone called Mission Possible. It begins on June 9 and runs through August 11.
Finally, I urge all of you to take some time to be involved in the physical activity of your choice—biking, running, walking, hiking, yoga, strength training, softball, bowling-whatever makes you happy. It will all have value in becoming the best person each of us can be.
