These standards have been set to limit the donation of computer equipment which has little value in our academic school setting. While all contributions are appreciated, the acceptance of older equipment is not possible because the costs of upgrading and maintaining the equipment for use in our educational setting outweighs its instructional usefulness. Older equipment typically requires higher maintenance costs (both in terms of time and materials) and has a lower educational value because it does not effectively run much of the software currently in use. Questions about specific donations should be directed to the district technology coordinator. The district technology committee will review these standards on an annual basis.
