Bee Athletic Boosters Meeting Minutes
January 9, 2008
- Opening Remarks
Mark Wirkus called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2008 at the High School Media Center.
The first topic of discussion was the upcoming Super Bowl Tailgate Party on February 2, 2008. Tickets for this fundraiser were distributed to team representatives who are responsible for organizing and selling them sales to other parents on their teams. Payment for sold tickets must be received by the Boosters no later 1/24/08. Reports from the gaming, basket and setup committee were made. Additional meetings for these groups were scheduled.
Please note that most attendees left the meeting at 7:00 p.m. to go to the PSAT meeting.

- Secretary's Report
We will approve minutes from December meeting at the February 4, 2008 meeting.
- Treasurer's Report
Mike reported that we have $71,535 in unrestricted funds, of which, $38,009 is committed to other projects but not yet spent. This leaves $33,525 of uncommitted general funds as of December 31, 2007.
Mike reviewed the calculation method used to distribute concession funds to the various teams that worked the events. Approximately $2,000 of the funds raised was withheld for related expenses.
- Membership Report
Jane reported status quo since our last meeting. Total ytd membership revenues are at $43,895.
- Team Reports
All team representatives gave their final reports for the month of December. Highlights include:
The Brecksville Magazine featured a nice article on our Bowling team, which placed 1st in the Baker's Tournament.
Our Gymnastics Team won its first meet and Kelsey Bletsch was named the Plain Dealer Player of the Week.
Our Wrestling Team finished 14th out of 80 teams in the Beast of the East Tournament. Kyle Lang and Jeremy Johnson were place winners in the tournament. Our Holiday tournament was a success with 43 teams participating.
- Athletic Department Report

- Allocation Requests
Craig Kovach, a weight training room supervisor and wood class teacher submitted a request for a rubberized dumbbell weight set for the weight training room. Approximate cost is $5,500.
Request to put mirrors on three walls of the room. Each wall will require mirror sections of about 150 ft. wide X 5 ft. tall. The total approximate cost is $7,600. There was a brief discussion and a suggestion of possibly doing just one wall at a time to distribute the cost over time.
- BEE Athletic Boosters Projects
Reverse Raffle - The Super Bowl Tailgate Party at St. Michael's Woodside is on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Tickets were distributed to team reps to sell. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for January 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
