  1. Opening Remarks

Mark Wirkus called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. on September 8, 2008 at the High School Media Center.

Please make sure that all attendees complete the sign-up sheet that is passed around at each meeting.

  2. Secretary's Report

Motions were made to approve the June 2, 2008 and August 4, 2008 minutes. Both motions passed unanimously.

  3. Treasurer's Report

The golf outing earned approximately $14,000, with 32 foursomes participating. Thanks to all who helped organize and make this year's event another great success. Thanks also to all golfers for their participation.

Mark Weaver has volunteered to be the chair for next year's outing.

The Boosters offer a sincere thank you to Runzheimer International for its $2,300 donation to our fund raising efforts.

Our third payment on the turf project has been made, and our remaining obligation is $75,000.

  4. Membership Report

Cathy reported total ytd membership revenues of $40,510 consisting of the following breakdown by membership type:

    • Gold - $5,100 (51 @ $100 each)
    • Platinum - $33,000 (132 @ $250 each)
    • Red - $1,560 (26 @ $60 each)
    • Team - $850 (34 @ $25 each)

  5. Team Reports

We now have our new BEE mascot and he is actively cheering at our games!

Team reps gave their initial reports and all teams are off to a great start and we won the golden shoe back from North Royalton!

Our bowling team expressed great concern regarding the new high school rules. The state of Ohio drastically changed the rules and the bowling season will now be considered a winter sport, starting November 19th. This change will negatively impact our team and our bowlers.

  6. Athletic Department Report

Dan reported that the Administration decided to scale back elementary night at the football game. There will be no cheering competition between schools, cheerleaders and football players will not be allowed to promote the game at the individual schools, and no ticket sales at the various schools.

At this point, our football gate receipts are running at only fifty-eight percent of our usual expected revenues.

The Bruce Lerch invitational was a great success. We had many volunteers helping 22 varsity teams and 13 middle schools that participated in the meet. Former Brecksville cross country star and 2008 Olympian Josh McAdams passed out trophies.

Maria Schneider reported that parents started to spruce up Old Stadium by power washing and re-painting the exterior of the field house, and also cleaned the inside. An allocation request may be forthcoming for no more than $800 to help cover part of the total cost of $1,600.

The Sarah Glosik Memorial Volleyball game is scheduled for September 20, 2008.

The scoreboard at Old Stadium was vandalized. There was a brief discussion suggesting that a new High School scoreboard be purchased and use the old one to replace the unit at Old Stadium.

  7. Allocation Requests

Dan Kalinsky requested a portable Public Address System for up to $2,000.

Maria Schneider will submit a request once final cost for the Old Stadium cleanup is known.

There was further discussion about the previous allocation request for a volleyball cart.

  8. BEE Athletic Boosters Projects

The bleachers at Old Stadium and at the High School Baseball field need to be repainted.

The High School Baseball and Softball fields need to be inspected for any needed maintenance or repairs.

  9. New Business

The BEE Athletic Boosters tailgate party is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2008 of Super Bowl weekend.

Mark Wirkus welcomes more ideas for fund raising ideas - for instance, North Royalton recently raffled off a donated car and raised a good amount of funds for their club.

  10. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m.

Next meeting will be on October 6, 2008 at the High School Media Center at 7:00 p.m.
