  1. Opening Remarks

Mark Wirkus called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on October 6, 2008 at the High School Media Center.

Please make sure that all attendees complete the sign-up sheet that is passed around at each meeting.

  2. Secretary's Report

Motions were made to correct last month's minutes to:

    1. Show $75,000 as our remaining commitment for the turf project after we made our third payment.
    2. Correct the Sarah Glosik Memorial game to volleyball rather than softball.

Both motions passed unanimously and the minutes were approved, pending these changes.

  3. Treasurer's Report

Mike reported that we have $70,337 in unrestricted Booster funds, of which $13,414 is committed to other projects but not yet spent. This leaves $56,922 of uncommitted general funds as of September 30, 2008. There is a memo amount of $4,905 that is still due from the Athletic Department for winter concessions from 2008.

  4. Membership Report

Cathy reported total ytd membership revenues of $41,655 consisting of the following breakdown by membership type:

    • Gold - $5,700 (57 @ $100 each)
    • Platinum - $33,250 (133 @ $250 each)
    • Red - $1,680 (28 @ $60 each)
    • Team - $1,025 (41 @ $25 each)

  5. Team Reports

Team reps gave their reports on another very successful fall season. Congratulations to the Girls Tennis Team after wrapping up the Southwest Conference Championship.

Most other teams are also in the hunt for conference championships and state tournaments. Stay tuned for further updates.

Congratulations to Mike Whitmer for his success on the golf team and being awarded as Conference Medalist, which means he had the low score at the Conference tournament!

The Girls Softball team is having a murder mystery dinner fund-raiser on November 8, 2008 at St. Sava's Church - save the date.

  6. Athletic Department Report

Maria Schneider announced the Basketball Extravaganza that is scheduled for October 25th at the High School Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. It will feature school faculty playing against the police and fire departments from Brecksville and Broadview Heights.

Maria will be ordering red "Sting 'Em" shirts that can be purchased by students for $20 each. When worn to a middle school basketball game, the students wearing these shirts will be let into the game for free. We really hope to have a big "Stinger" section in the bleachers at all of our games.

  7. Allocation Requests

An official allocation request for the portable public address system by Dan Kalinsky was approved.

Maria submitted a new allocation request in the amount of $150, plus shipping costs, for a Bee costume for the Middle School.

An allocation request for painting and cleaning the Old Stadium locker room has been tabled.

  8. BEE Athletic Boosters Projects

The bleachers at Old Stadium and at the High School Baseball field need to be repainted.

The High School Baseball and Softball fields need to be inspected for any needed maintenance or repairs.

  9. New Business

The BEE Athletic Boosters tailgate party is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2008 of Super Bowl weekend.

All teams will need to provide a basket and Tish O'Dell and Holly Halterman have volunteered to coordinate them for the Tailgate Party. Thank you Tish & Holly!

There was a short discussion regarding the future structure of the BEE Athletic Boosters. We need more people to get involved and help in several areas including treasury activities, membership, and concession stands. There will be an additional meeting on October 21st to further discuss this issue.

The rest rooms at the High School stadium must be cleaned better and more frequently at our athletic events. They also need to be painted, including the floors, and do any other needed repairs to them. We receive constant complaints about their condition. Maria will send an email request to Paul Cevasco to ask for his help.

  10. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 8:24 p.m.

Next meeting will be on November 3, 2008 at the High School Media Center at 7:00 p.m.
