- Athletic Department Reports
Dan Kalinsky announced the Fall Sports Awards night will be this Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. He also congratulated all fall sports teams on their very successful season, which is the most successful for Brecksville Broadview Heights of all time! He expressed thanks to the Boosters and community supporters of all our teams.
Dan reported that gate receipts from the recent football playoff game are turned over to the State of Ohio. However, we are able to keep twenty-percent of the proceeds from approximately 2,500 pre-sale tickets. Approximately 6,000 tickets were sold for this event.
Dan also reported that our stadium, which is about 20 years old, was exposed as a "sub-par" Division 1 High School Stadium. General improvement requirements that are needed to upgrade the stadium's status will need to be developed and communicated to the Board of Education for future action.
- Allocation Requests
Hockey needs a new banner for the new home ice rinks. The old banner will be used for the JV team playing at Garfield Heights. The new banner will be used for the Varsity Team playing at Brooklyn will cost $290.
The High School Strength coach requested a new stereo system for the workout room. The existing system is outdated, cannot play CD's, and requires extra tools to get it to work. The new system will cost about $1,000.
Banners for the gymnasium that will be hung to recognize our Conference Championship teams will be funded by the Bee Athletic Boosters. Cost estimates will be collected and reviewed at future meetings.
- BEE Athletic Boosters Projects
Stadium - Signs for the press box that were previously approved have been delayed. We want larger signs that can be seen from a distance along with competitive quotes. It's expected the cost will be more than originally projected. We will try to have this completed in the spring of 2007, before the track season begins.
Reverse Raffle - The date is set for March 24, 2007 and will again be at St. Paul's Hellenic Center. All members should come to the December meeting ready to discuss our action plan and activities to make this another successful event. We should all remind Fall Sports Families of the upcoming fundraiser. Last year, most attendees were from the spring sports teams.
- New Business
John Muller Fund Raiser is set for November 17, 2006 at St. Michael's. John has been fighting leukemia and will be going to Philadelphia soon for a bone-marrow transplant from his brother Todd. Cash donations can be made to the fund raiser at any National City Bank in Cuyahoga County or you can contact Diane Pollock for more information.
Karen Hale has collected about 35,000 images from this year's football season and will be creating a CD collection of these pictures for sale. Portions of the proceeds will be given to the Boosters that can be given to the John Muller Fund Raiser program.
Joe Kosek announced that next year's golf outing will be on August 22, 2007 and will have a shotgun start at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.
