Present at meeting: Marcia Cline, Karen Ryan, Bruce and Ellen Noggle, Manuel and Ruth Saridakis, David Schlabig, Cliff Eggleton, Jim Tricomi, Alan Siebert, Judy and Steve Zamaria, Phil Resparc, Diane and Ross Pollack, Nancy Payton, Larry Cox, Joe Kosek, Kathy Bazil, Jan Wirkus, Paul Longville, Bernie and Kelly Lozar, Linda Hagen, Londa Latimer, Anne Rosenthal, Dan Kalinsky, Mark Weaver, Charlie Towne, Vicki Searles.

Secretary's Report: A motion to approve the minutes of the Feb. 6, 2006 minutes was made by Manuel Saridakis and seconded by Vicki Searles. The minutes were approved.

Membership Report: We have added one more standard membership. The dollar total for this year's membership is $25,365.

Treasurer's Report: We have approximately $60,000 in unrestricted funds of which $25,000 comes from membership. We should think about setting the $25,000 aside for capital improvement projects since this is what has been the custom in the past. Two suggestions were brought up - a soft springboard gym floor and a tarp for the girls softball field.

Team Reps:

  • Cheerleading - The girls took 4th place at the Amherst competition. Tryouts will be in April. They will be done in the evening this year to accommodate those involved in spring sports.
  • Bowling - The team is in 2nd place in handicap scoring and in 9th or 10th in scratch scoring. Four bowlers will be in the Pepsi Tournament.
  • Hockey - The team won their 1st sectional game.
  • Swimming - Katie Beck won the state title in the 100 yd backstroke and came in 3rd in the 100 yd butterfly. Aaron Trippett came in 7th in the state diving competition.
  • Gymnastics - On Feb 7, the team defeated Magnificat. The team won the sectional competition. Seven girls qualified for districts. The team won at districts. Seven girls competed at the state competition. For the third year in a row the team won the State Championship. The Ohio State Coaches Association named Coach Joan Ganim co-coach of the year.
  • Wrestling - The wrestling team is the SWC champion. Three wrestlers qualified for the State competition - Bryan Dobransky at heavyweight, Pat Zamaria at 112 and Kyle Lang at 103. Pat Zamaria took 7th place and Kyle Lang took 4th place. Overall, BBHHS came in 20th out of more than 100 teams in Division 1.
  • Girls Basketball - The 8th grade girls were undefeated until last week. The 7th grade team is undefeated. Playoffs will start soon. The 9th grade team finished 13-5, 10-0 in the conference. They won both games at the conference tournament. The JV team finished 11-9. The varsity team finished 13-7, 10-4 in the conference. They finished 3rd in the conference. They won their first sectional game but lost to JFK. Three seniors will be leaving.
  • Boys Basketball - The varsity beat Berea in the sectional final. They play Normandy in the district semi-final on Wed. at 7PM at BW. The JV team finished 13-7 and was co-champ for the SWC.
  • Boys Volleyball - The season is just starting. With 24 players trying out, there will be a varsity and JV team.
  • Track - Practices have started.

Allocation Requests:

Boys volleyball is requesting money for fees for the officials and also $150 for a new ball cart.

Girls softball: The field needs a tarp for home plate and the batters box and the infield. We need more information and measurements from the coach. The scoreboard has been fixed twice but still needs a new sensor board to fix it properly.

Reverse Raffle /Silent Auction:

Ticket Sales - We still have 4 tables left to sell. We will try to make a push to sell these tickets. We will contact the fire and police departments.

Silent Auction - If anyone else wants to help Sat. evening, let Jan or Anne know. There are 137 donors and 83 items donated. Thanks to all members of this committee for their hard work.

The set-up committee is set and volunteers for the sideboards are set. There have been 40 ads sold for the program book, which will generate a little over $4000.

Athletic Director Reports:

Dan Kalinsky congratulated the gymnastics, swimming and wrestling teams for doing so well at the State competitions. Spring sports are starting.

Other Business:

Because of a change in the Captains management, the program that our baseball team was scheduled to participate in on April 15 has been canceled. The team will still play in the Hardball Classic at Jacobs field on May 5th and also at a game in June.

There is no new news on the artificial turf.

The winter sports reception will be on Wed. March 15 at 7PM.

Please consider becoming an officer for next year. David Schlabig will be the only returning officer.
