Please make sure that all attendees complete the sign-up sheet that is passed around at each meeting.

  2. Secretary's Report

The minutes of our meeting on February 12, 2007 were approved unanimously.

Members should read meeting minutes posted on our website prior to each meeting. We will not use meeting time to read them, and will only ask for motions to approve previous minutes at each BEE Booster meeting unless there are changes to be made.

  3. Treasurer's Report

Doug presented the latest financial statement showing unrestricted funds at $5,865. The statement shows a return of previously committed funds of $4,000 coming back from the Southern Hills football League and our soccer program. These funds are being returned to help contribute towards the turf project.

  4. Membership Report

Jane reported no new membership enrollments since our last meeting. Total membership is at 187 members with year-to-date membership revenues of $32,565.

  5. Team Reports

Basketball, Boys - The Varsity team finished at 8 wins and 13 losses. They won their first playoff game against Hudson, and then fell to Firestone in the Sectional finals. The Junior Varsity team finished at 7 wins and 13 losses.

Basketball, Girls - The varsity won their first playoff game against Nordonia but fell to East Tech in the next game. They had a very successful season with a record of 19-4 overall and won the Southwest Conference. Joe Zenir was named the Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. The Junior Varsity finished at 17-3 and are also the Southwest Conference Champions.

Gymnastics - Our Gymnastics team had another outstanding season, winning their fourth State Championship in a row, and five out of the last seven! They are also Sectional and District Champions. The senior class has now completed an undefeated run of 285-0.

Bowling - The bowling team is done with their season, finishing in 11th place scratch, 17th handicap. Six players qualified for the Pepsi tournament and can possibly go on to the States if they qualify. Cody Widlak is the team's leading bowler with the 17th highest average in the league and bowled 41 games over 200!

Hockey - Our Hockey Team finished slightly under .500 and took second place in two of the tournaments they participated in. They lost a 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime to Bay Village. Junior Mark Pinter was named First Team All-Conference. Our JV team finished slightly over .500.

Swimming - The swim team had a very good season. Individually, Katie Beck took second place in the backstroke and third place in the butterfly at the state meet.

Wrestling - Our wrestling team sent four boys to the state meet with Kyle Lang taking a third-place finish, Ryan Marks taking an eighth-place finish, and Jim Nemunaitis taking fourth place. Coach Haverdill was named Coach of the Year.

Honey Bees - Our girls will be performing at this Sunday's Cavaliers game at the Quicken Loans Arena at 5:30 p.m.

  6. Athletic Department Reports

We now have a LaCrosse team that will learn game basics this year and hopefully become a club sport next year.

Winter Sports Awards night will be on Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

We had a brief discussion on the local attractions coupon book. All telemarketing and work is done by an outside firm. Last year's activities contributed $1,800 to the Boosters Club. After a brief discussion, the attending membership approved moving forward with this activity and combining it with North Royalton and Strongsville.

  7. Allocation Requests

    1) The board approved $300 for the boys' volleyball team to help cover referee fees.

    2) Our Gymnastics Team updated us with a better estimate of about $6,800 for future consideration to help with the replacement of their spring-floor. The current floor is in bad shape and we receive many negative comments from visiting teams, including safety and potential injury concerns. No decision or approvals were made at this meeting but we will need to consider this before the end of the year.

    3) The board also approved $1,618 for Tennis team warm-ups for Varsity and JV teams.

  8. BEE Athletic Boosters Projects

Reverse Raffle - The date is set for March 24, 2007 and will again be at St. Paul's Hellenic Center.

Linda reported that ticket sales are still tracking very slowly and has many more tickets that need to be sold. All members are asked to help push the ticket sales through. There appears to be a few key schedule conflicts and concern with the number of competing interests for fund raising revenues.

Jan Wirkus and Anne Rosenthal are working hard on the silent auction. Mark Becka and Bernie Lozar reported that we should be able to break even on program costs if the solicited local sponsors make their commitments.

Mike Murphy has agreed to MC the event for us this year.

  9. New Business

There was no new business discussed.

  10. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

The next BEE Athletic Boosters meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007 in the High School Media Center.
