Bee Athletic Boosters Meeting Minutes
December 3, 2007

  1. Opening Remarks

    Mark Wirkus called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on December 3, 2007 at the High School Media Center.

    Attendees: Dave Best, Sherri Bonamer, Jane Bowditch, Linda Hagen, Holly Halterman, Bob Halterman, Lauren Jirousek, Kelly Lozar, Kevin McPherson, Tish O'Dell, Phil Resparc, Manuel Saridakis, Ruth Saridakis, Vicki Searles, Charlie Towne, Bruce Trippet, Mark Weaver, Wayne Widlak, MaryLou Widlak, Mike Weisbarth, Mark Wirkus

    Please make sure that all attendees complete the sign-up sheet that is passed around at each meeting.

  2. Secretary's Report

    Minutes for the October and November meetings were approved. The minutes for October were corrected to include discussions concerning the condition and funds needed to improve the condition of our tennis courts.

  3. Treasurer's Report

    Mike reported that we have $70,055 in unrestricted funds, of which, $40,385 is committed to other projects but not yet spent. This leaves $29,670 of uncommitted general funds as of November 30, 2007.

    Mike also reported that he closed out the Oppenheimer account (small amount) and now only have our funds deposited with National City Bank.

  4. Membership Report

    Jane reported we gained another new member and have ytd membership revenues of $45,400.

  5. Team Reports

    All team representatives gave their final reports for the fall season. Highlights include:

    Special congratulations to our Cheerleading team - they won the SWC Title and became the 7th school team to win a conference championship this fall.

    Congratulations to the Hockey Team - it won the Normandy Hockey Tournament over Thanksgiving.

  6. Athletic Department Report

    Dan reported that we are settling into the SWC and is glad that we're not in the larger conferences.

    The oldest annual holiday wrestling tournament in the country is scheduled for December 28th and 29th and currently there are 43 teams registered for the event.

  7. Allocation Requests

    The Lacrosse team requested $2,000 for transportation, uniforms, coaching fees, referee fees, etc.

    The wrestling team requested $1,000 to support the hospitality room at the upcoming wrestling tournament.

    Dan mentioned that our undefeated fall sports teams will get tee shirts ($15 ea.) and the State Champion Girls Cross Country Team will get rings (8 @ $100 ea.) All teams also receive patches and other items during the athletic seasons.

  8. BEE Athletic Boosters Projects

    Reverse Raffle - We will change the venue of this annual fundraiser to be a "Reverse Raffle Fun Night". This year's theme will be a Super Bowl Tailgate Party at St. Michael's Woodside on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Jan Romance and Dave Best will coordinate the ticket sales through our team reps. Linda and Bernie will provide assistance if needed. Holly and Tish will coordinate team baskets that should have an approximate retail value between $100 and $150 each. A follow-up planning meeting will be scheduled for later this month. The event will have a live band this year and a raffle for a flat screen TV - Mark Becka will coordinate this item.

  9. New Business

    No new business was discussed.

  10. Adjournment

    The meeting was adjourned at 8:13 p.m.

    Due to the Ohio State National Championship game on January 7, the next BEE Athletic Boosters meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Janary 8, 2008 at the High School Media Center.
