Secretary's Report: A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the April 4, 2005 meeting. The minutes were accepted.

Membership Report: Memberships for the year were as follows: 12 faculty, 25 gold, 53 platinum, 24 standard for a total of $17,000. This is down approximately $5000 from last year. Jane has updated the membership form and will see that it is included in last issue of the Herald and the Banner. This form can also be used for bulk mailings and on the web site. We may send articles to the Sun, Gazette, and the Brecksville and Broadview Heights magazines. Membership prices will be kept the same. A mass e-mail will be done to those e-mail addresses we have. Maria will check into getting mailing addresses for the current 6th, 7th and 8th grades. We should have a table at the Middle School Sports reception June 2.

Golf Outing: The golf outing is Wed. Aug. 17. A deposit has been made to Sleepy Hollow. The same format as last year will be used. Joan Sonich will help Joe with mailings to vendors.

Team Rep Reports:

  • Girls Softball - Girls Softball is currently 10-9. They are seeded 1 in the sectional. JV is 8-4.
  • Track - Girls are 3-1 at duals. 2nd at Ellet Invitational, 4th at Mentor Invitational.
Boys - Won at Midpark, Normandy, North Ridgeville. 5th at Akron Invitational, 4th at Madison Invitational, 10th at Mentor Relays.
8th grade girls have won all their duals and invitational. Boys are doing well. They did extremely well at the Southwest Invitational.
  • Baseball - Varsity baseball lost today. JV team is strong. Sectionals start this week.
  • Girls Volleyball - Girls volleyball is looking for a new coach. Several applicants have applied.

Allocation Requests:

The weight room needs new covers on the seat cushions. Cost would be $2500-3000. Hopefully the work can be done before summer. The current covers were put on in 1997.

The gymnastics team needs new uneven bars. Cost is approximately $2700.

Athletic Director Reports:

Dan Kalinsky reported that the tennis courts are getting some repairs. The cracks will be repaired, sealer put on, and the posts will be repaired. Cost is $10,000 to $15,000. The football practice field is to be upgraded but not until after Relay for Life. The gym floors at the different schools will be repaired.

Old Stadium Update: Although the mayor and city council want to move ahead and buy the property, renovate it, and the school district use it, things seem to be at a standstill. We are encouraged to call our councilmen and school board members to ask what is going on. Can the school board get a committee to propose ideas? The idea of corporate sponsorship was brought up. Karen Hale was present and spoke on behalf of the Lake County Captains. They are actively seeking communities in Cuyahoga County where they can help improve athletic facilities. She will present her plan at the June 6 meeting.

Treasurer's Report: Reminder letters have just been sent out for the remaining field house pledges. Current balance of uncommitted funds is $33,850.52.

In regards to our sub-booster accounts, Doug has asked Mark Wirkus to audit or review these accounts at the end of the fiscal year. There was a short discussion on the few groups who do have their own separate accounts.

Charlie Towne has come up with a set of bylaws that we will tailor to our needs. The executive committee and several volunteers will work on them and present them to the membership. This committee will consist of the officers, the 2 athletic directors, Bruce Noggle, Dave Schlabig, and Charlie Towne.

New Business:

After tomorrow's school levies, Maria will have a better idea of the middle school's schedule for next year. May 18 is the middle school track meet.
