BeeKeepers is a school age child care program that is owned and operated by the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District. It is licensed by the Ohio Department of Education. BeeKeepers is designed to ensure a safe, healthy, enjoyable environment for the children. At the same time, it incorporates enrichment activities that enhance the district’s primary goal of educating the students. The child care program is paid for by the families who use the services and is of no cost to the taxpayer. BeeKeepers is designed to meet the school age child’s physical, social, and emotional needs. This program provides supervision, a sense of security, consistency, a caring environment, and the comfort of familiar surroundings.
BeeKeepers is located in all four elementary schools. The program is available to school aged children in kindergarten through eighth grade or 14 years old, whichever comes first. The middle school program is housed at the Central School and does not have a before school program. Kindergartners may participate in either the morning or afternoon program adjacent to their school days. Preschool students are not eligible to use the program’s services. The K-3 BeeKeepers programs use a thematic approach providing activities including indoor and outdoor play, puzzles and games, arts and crafts, and quiet areas for homework, enrichment worksheets, and reading. The Central and Middle School BeeKeepers programs focus on homework, study, and recreational activities. If the programs are not full, space is available for drop-ins (students who do not use the program on a regular basis). Reservations and payments must be made in advance. Families not residing in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights area may use the Summer BeeKeepers Camp based on availability.
BeeKeepers operates year round and is available before school (K-5), after school (K-8), non-school days (NEOEA Day, Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Records Day, and Staff Development Day), winter vacation (excluding observed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day), spring break (excluding Good Friday), and summer vacation. The program is closed on all legal holidays, transition days, and calamity days including snow days and/or delays.
All enrolled families will receive a BeeKeepers Operation Schedule at the beginning of each school year.
